Antananarivo

Our palatial room in Tana . Arrived safely and driven right across Tana. Very chaotic, dirty and obviously very poor. Glad we are not staying in the city but our hotel is amazing. Pity we leave again so early in the morning so won't get a chance to fully enjoy. We are high on a hill overlooking the city.
I changed 500 euro at the airport because it is not possible to do so where we are going. I now have huge wads of cash. Goodness knows how I am going to carry that around safely.

Mauritius

The view from our private hotel in Flic En Flac. It's been a bit cloudy and windy here until today and we got to swim in the Indian Ocean at last. The swimming pool was too cold for me but the ocean was lovely. We went for a guided tour drive around the south of the island all day yesterday. It has quite a Fiji feel to it except that everyone speaks French mainly. Most speak English as well.
Off to Madagascar tomorrow. The rest of our flights had better not have been stuffed up.
Everyone is warning us to be careful, but they said that about Cuba too.
